SSC stands for Staff Selection Commission. It is an Indian organization which recruits staffs for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. It also recruits for subordinates offices. .
SSC conducts approximately ten exams ( namely SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC JE, SSC JHT, SSC GD Constable, SSC CPO, SSC Stenographer, SSC Selection posts, SSC MTS, and SSC Scientific Assistant ) for recruiting the officers and clerks in the government departments and other ministries. Following are the exams conducted by SSC for the recruitment of various post.
SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) Exam – SSC CGL exam is conducted once in every year for selecting staff for various Group-B and Group-C posts. This examination generally comprises of four stages namely Tier-I (Preliminary exam), Tier-II (Mains Exam), Tier-III (Descriptive Paper), and Tier-IV (Data entry skill test/ Computer Proficiency Test).
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Exam – The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the CHSL Exam for recruitment to various posts like:
- Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants (PA/SA)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)
- Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
- Court Clerk
- This examination is conducted in two phases, namely Tier-I (Online exam) and Tier-II (Descriptive paper).
SSC JE (Junior Engineer) Exam – SSC conducts JE exam to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Junior Engineers Civil, Electrical and Mechanical posts in various government departments.
SSC CPO (Central Police Organization) Exam – Under SSC CPO exam, you can apply for the posts of Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) in CISF (Central Industrial Security Force).
SSC Selection Posts Exam – With this exam, a candidate is recruited under Group B/ Group-C Class-II/ and Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted & Non-Ministerial category. Selection Posts are the limited vacancies for which essential as well as desired qualification is required. Sometimes having relevant experience also helps in getting this job. The name of posts and departments is issued zone wise by SSC every year.
SSC MTS (Multi-tasking Staff) Exam – SSC MTS exam is held for the recruitment of a general central service Group-‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post in various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Offices, in different States / Union Territories. After selection through SSC MTS exam, one is deputed as peon, dafatry, jamadar, farash, chowkidar, safaiwala, mali, junior gestetner operator etc. in various government departments/ministries.
SSC Scientific Assistant Exam – This exam is held for the recruitment to the post of Scientific Assistant in India Meteorological Department, Group-‘B’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial posts.
